Alabama received its second commitment in as many days when Salt Lake City (Utah) 2018 linebacker Cameron Latu announced his pledged to the Crimson Tide on Friday.
The 6-foot-5, 236-pounder revealed Alabama as his future destination via Twitter, choosing the Tide over several Power 5 offers that included Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, USC and UCLA among others.

Latu visited the Alabama campus multiple times over the spring and summer months, most recently attending the Champions Cookout on July 21. Rated a four-star prospect, Latu is listed as the No. 8 weak-side defensive end in the country and the No. 149 overall recruit regardless of position, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Once committed to BYU, Latu became a priority for the Crimson Tide coaching staff soon after receiving his offer in late January. Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi has been Latu’s primary recruiter for the Tide.
A product of Olympus high school, Latu is projected to play linebacker at Alabama. He registered 65 tackles and nine sacks a junior last season.
Latu becomes the Alabama’s ninth commitment of the 2018 class, pushing the Tide up to No. 31 nationally in the 247Sports Team Rankings. The Tide also received a commitment from West Monroe (La.) 2018 three-star wide receiver Slade Bolden on Thursday.
